RSS Russian citizens travelling to the European Union via Lithuania will be subject to stricter controls

In accordance with Article 2(2) of the Resolution of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania of 13 September 2022 „On the Introduction of a State of Emergency“, from 19 September 2022 entry of citizens of the Russian Federation into the territory of the Republic of Lithuania through the external border of the European Union is restricted by means of an individual thorough check to verify that such an entry does not jeopardize the public policy, internal security, public health or international relations of the Republic of Lithuania.
Such individual thorough check is not applicable if a citizen of the Russian Federation fulfills the entry conditions laid down in the Schengen Borders Code and meets at least one of these criteria:

In response to the information that Belarus is preparing to launch the second power unit of its nuclear power plant (NPP) - physically launching the reactor and planning to connect to the power grid — the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania sent a note of protest to the Foreign Ministry of Belarus, strictly insisting on the immediate suspension of the Belarusian NPP project until all nuclear safety issues identified by international missions and review processes are resolved.
